By name and by nature!

Collage striped shawl front back sides

This is “Les Sillons” by Sylvie Polo. That’s French for furrows/ridges/channels (and grooves) and it was a real pleasure to knit.

It was just knit stitches –  no purls in sight.

There are thick stripes and thin stripes

and two sections with slipped stitches.

The construction is actually asymmetrical

with lots of “wrap and turn” short rows which are easy to do in garter stitch since you don’t have to worry about picking up all the wraps.

Altogether easy but not tedious knitting.

I made mine from lace-weight wool having seen this lovely project on Ravelry.

My shawl is as light as a feather,

weighing in at just under 100g.

I can fold it up small to put it in a bag.

Spread out, it is pretty ginormous.

I’m still figuring out the best ways of wearing it.
