This isn’t the post I was going to write but I just have to share a sock pattern. It’s called Bark by Wei S. Leong (Kiwipurler on Ravelry) and it makes such lovely fabric for your feet!
This is a very gratifying project. The textured pattern is easy to knit and doesn’t require too much attention. It’s a very motivating ‘just one more row’ kind of sock and the size is easily adapted, too.
Please note this is actually a cuff-down pattern which happens to work well toe-up!

This definitely has great texture. This colourway reminds me of San Francisco’s foggy skies.

The nice thing about the texture is that it isn’t bulky like some cable patterns. At least there is some blue in your San Franciscan foggy skies – better than just grey fog!

Wei Siew has other lovely sock patterns. I particularly like selachimorpha and anemone.

I’m keen on anemone, too and I started droplets but the yarn wasn’t right for them.

It looks awesome! It’s also on my list … Definitely for Philipp’s socks, but I want a pair of these for myself as well! When you knit top-down patterns toe-up, by the way – do you reverse the chart and read it from top to bottom? Or do you use it as you would normally do? I have been pondering this for a while (please don’t see this as a degree of my intelligence).

I used the chart as is here. For others, it depends on the chart. You may have to swap increases and decreases if you work in the reverse order. ( e.g.primavera socks).
